Keyword : Perineal Rupture Incidence, Age, Parity and Birth Weight

According to WHO (World Health Organization), every day in 2017, around 810 women died from

preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Between 2000 and 2017 maternal mortality, the

number of maternal deaths of 100,000 live births fell by around 38% worldwide. 94% of all maternal

deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.

This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of perineal rupture in mothers

who give birth at the Adjidarmo Regional Hospital in 2018.

This type of research is analytic with a cross sectional research design. With a population of 1,037

women with normal births with 289 samples of normal birth, the sampling was simple random (Random

Sampling). In this study, the variables used were age, parity and birth weight and data collection was

seen from the register book.

Based on the frequency distribution of perineal rupture of 289 samples, it was found that 171 (59.2%)

did not experience perineal rupture and 118 (48.2%) had perineal rupture, based on the analysis there

was no relationship between maternal age and the incidence of perineal rupture (p value = 1,000). There

is a relationship between parity and the incidence of perineal rupture (p value = 0.000). And there is a

relationship between birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture (p value = 0.000).

It is hoped that the health personnel of the Adjidarmo Hospital will provide counseling to pregnant

women about the factors related to the incidence of perineal rupture, so that it can reduce the

occurrence of perineal rupture.
