Menarche is the first menstruation cycle undergone by a woman. Menarche age in women varies although the normal age is usually > 12. Some researches also reveal that a menarche woman who is < 12 years old has the risk for being affected by several diseases like breast cancer, uteri myoma and cervical cancer. The objective of the research was to find out the correlation of nutrition status, menarche age in women, and physical activity with menarche age in female teenagers at SMP Negeri I, Siborongborong, Tapanuli Utara Distict.


The research used observation analytic approach with cross sectional design. The samples were 114 respondents, taken by using total sampling technique. The data of nutrition status were gathered by weighing and measuring height. The data of menarche age and physical activity were gathered by conducting in-depth interviews, while menarche age in women by distributing questionnaires to their daughters.


The result of the research showed that 78 female students (68,4%) had normal menarche age, 72 female students (63,2%) had normal nutrition status, 95 menarche women (83,3%) had normal age, and 79 of them (69,7%) had moderate physical activity. There was significant correlation of nutrition status (p = 0,001) and physical activity (p = 0,015) with menarche age, and there was no significant correlation between menarche age in women p = 0,787) and menarche age. The variable which had the most dominant correlation with menarche age was the variable of nutrition status.


It is recommended that the school management pay attention to the level of physical health and nutrition status of their students by providing counseling about nutrition and reproductive health.
