Penyakit rabies di Indonesia masih merupakan penyakit hewan yang penting dan termasuk ke dalam penyakit hewan menular strategis prioritas karena berdampak terhadap sosial ekonomi dan kesehatan masyarakat. Kejadian rabies pada hewan maupun manusia hampir selalu diakhiri dengan kematian (case fatality rate 100%) sehingga akibat penyakit ini menimbulkan rasa takut dan kekhawatiran serta keresahan bagi masyarakat. Selain itu rabies juga mengakibatkan kerugian secara ekonomi pada daerah tertular di antaranya biaya penyidikan, pengendalian yang tinggi, serta tingginya biaya perawatan pasca pajanan. Dan sampai sekarang belum ada obat yang efektif untuk pengobatan penyakit rabies. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisa Bivariat dengan menggunakan desain Cross Sectional. Desain Cross-Sectional adalah desain yang dilakukan pada satu waktu dan satu kali, tidak ada follow up, untuk mencari hubungan antara variabel independen (faktor resiko) dengan variabel dependen (efek). Hasil penelitian karakteristik responden mayoritas berumur > 40 tahun, jenis kelamin laki-laki, pendidikan tinggi, bekerja dan pendapatan di atas UMR (Rp. 2.000.000), prilaku responden mayoritas pengetahuan, sikap, tindakan baik dan 12 orang yang pernah digigit. Dari uji statistic bivariat pendidikan, pengetahuan, sikap, tindakan, jumlah anjing yang dipelihara, cara memelihara anjing, hewan pembawa rabies (HPR) selain anjing, vaksinasi, kondisi fisik anjing, cara perolehan anjing, asal anjing, dan anjing pernah keluar desa berhubungan bermakna dengan digigit anjing. Disarankan membuat kampanye pencegahan membuat masyarakat tergerak untuk memeriksakan kesehatan anjing-anjingnya ke pusat-pusat layanan insidental atau menunggu kehadiran petugas pemeriksa yang datang berkunjung dari rumah ke rumah.

Rabies in Indonesia is still an important animal disease and is a strategic priority communicable animal disease because it has an impact on the socioeconomic and public health. Rabies in both animals and humans almost always ends with death (case fatality rate 100%) so that the consequences of this disease cause fear and anxiety and anxiety for the community. Besides rabies also resulted in economic losses in the affected area including the cost of investigation, high control, and high costs of post-exposure care. And until now there is no effective drug for treatment of rabies. This research is a Bivariate analysis using cross sectional design. Cross-sectional design is a design that is done at one time and once, there is no follow-up, to find the relationship between the independent variable (risk factor) with the dependent variable (effect). The results of the study the characteristics of the majority of respondents aged> 40 years, male sex, high pendidian, work and income above the UMR (Rp. 2000000), the majority of respondents' behavior knowledge, attitude, good actions and 12 people who have been bitten from the statistical test bivariate education, knowledge, attitudes, actions, number of dogs that are kept, how to raise dogs, HPR other than dogs, vaccinations, physical condition of dogs, how to get dogs, origin of dogs, and dogs that have been out of the village related to how bitten by dogs. It is recommended to create a prevention campaign to encourage the public to check the health of their dogs to incidental service centers or to wait for the presence of examiners who come to visit from house to house
